Ways to support an author

besides buying their book

Ask your library to stock their book

If you are a library cardholder, most libraries have a form online where you can submit requests. You can also make requests over the phone or in person. You will likely need the following information: Book Title, Author Name, ISBN, and Publisher.

In case you would like to request Say I Boo from your library, here is the information (feel free to copy and paste):

Author: Morgan Spellman

Title: Say I Boo

ISBN: 9798988579502

Format: Print

Publisher: Meadow Cat Press

Share their book on Social Media

A quick post sharing your love of a book is a helpful way to reach new potential readers. You can even tag the author to make their day!

Talk about the book

Telling influencers and popular book reviewers is a powerful way to spread the word about a book, but talking to your friends, family, and local community can have a strong impact as well. Whenever you have the opportunity to talk about a book you love, why not mention it? You may meet a new future reading buddy in the process!

Write a book review

Sharing a review (even a short one) on platforms such as GoodReads and StoryGraph can make a big impact on future potential readers, and will help the author establish credibility.

Gift their book

When you finish reading a book you loved, consider buying a copy to give as a gift to someone who may also enjoy it. This way, you can share your joy for the book with a friend or family member, and you may end up creating a new fan for the author.

Sign up for their newsletter

Signing up for an author’s newsletter is a good way to stay up to date on new opportunities to support an author, as well as earn some rewards—many authors use their newsletter to share giveaways, promotions, Advanced Reader Copies, and more.
