FAQs

What inspired Say I Boo?

I wanted to write a fun heartwarming mystery full of friendship and hope, that still explores themes of loss and grief. The characters came to me as I was writing, and I don’t think the story could have been told without them! Abby’s optimism and hope despite such a tragic loss is exactly what I was looking for.

While most of the story came from my imagination, I was inspired by the whimsical and playful nature of the TV show Psych, as well as cult-classic paranormal stories such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural.

How long did it take to write Say I BOO?

I wrote the first words of Say I Boo in September 2020, and the book released September 2023. So three years! The majority of that time was spent during the editing phase, in which I re-wrote large chunks at a time.

Was Say I Boo a Pitch Wars book?

I entered the first draft of Say I Boo into Pitch Wars (a writing-mentor contest). While I wasn’t officially mentored, one of the mentors read my full manuscript and provided feedback, which was incorporated into future drafts.

How many other books have you written?

As of March 2024, Say I Boo and Roses are Red, Violet is Dead are my currently published books.
